PIBISA Workshop 2 April 2016

The P-I Bränemark Insititute of South Africa (PIBISA), in conjunction with Southern Implants, is proud to present the PIBISA Workshop Day – an exclusive series of practical workshops, designed to offer clinicians hands-on experience with state-of-the-art dental implant techniques. 

Experts in the fields of maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics and periodontics will share their knowledge and experience on a range of products and techniques, designed for successful treatment of difficult cases.

Creating passivity in the fixed arch

Professor of prosthodontics Prof Dale Howes conducts a hands-on session on using the unique Southern Implants passive abutments to eliminate stresses caused by impassivity in full arch prostheses, and obtain the most precise implant-superstructure fit possible.

The MAX wide-body implant 

MAX originator and expert Dr Andrew Ackermann gives delegates a demonstration of the latest techniques and tips for successful restoration using immediate placement in molar sockets.


Tilted implants without angulated abutments

Maxillofacial surgeon Dr Greg Boyes-Varley conducts a hands-on experience using the unique Southern Implants angulated-platform Co-Axis, enabling clinicians to make maximum use of available bone without compromising the parallelism of the restorative platform. Participants will have the opportunity to place both internal and external connection Co-Axis implants.


Drs Costa Nikolopoulos, Safa Tamahsebi and Petros Yuvanoglu teach the team-oriented key aspects of single-tooth extraction, immediate placement, and immediate loading with the final prosthesis, all in under 5 hours. Different techniques for anterior and posterior teeth will be demonstrated.


Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) – the state-of-the-art in hard and soft tissue grafting

Periodontist Dr Thomas Gahan gives a live demonstration in PRF and its many uses.

The CAD-CAM revolution

Prosthodontist Dr John Bronnergives a comprehensive demonstration of the design and manufacture of prosthetics optimizing Southern Implants components and Sirona’s extensive technologies.


Working around anatomic structures

Maxillofacial surgeon Dr Greg Boyes-Varley and prosthodontist Dr John Bronner give delegates hands-on experience placing short and ultra-short implants in the posterior maxilla, the narrow 3mm piccolo, and the 3.25mm Co-Axis for lateral incisors and lower centrals.
